Job summary

TIRR is seeking an MD or PhD to lead strategic and scientific research initiatives within its Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Division in Houston. This senior role shapes rehabilitation research strategy, oversees clinical and translational studies, and builds high-impact national collaborations.

The ideal candidate will maintain an active independent program, secure federal funding, mentor investigators, and drive publications and partnerships while managing budgets and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• MD or PhD required.
• 7+ years of research/administrative leadership experience as a Program Director, Department Head, Principal Investigator, or similar role.
• Proven success obtaining federal research funding.
• Strong background in rehabilitation and/or spinal cord injury research.
• Established record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Expertise in research design, data analysis, and clinical/translational research.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and develop strategic partnerships.
