Job summary

Jobot is seeking a leader to head an R&D Tax Credits practice, advising clients, mentoring staff, and driving growth with strong technical expertise in a flexible, collaborative environment with leadership visibility. Salary is $200,000–$230,000 annually with a hybrid work model in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage federal and state R&D Tax Credit studies across multiple industries
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert on IRC Section 41 and related tax credit regulations
• Identify, evaluate, and document qualifying research activities and expenditures
• Scope prospective engagements and assess potential credit opportunities
• Conduct and oversee technical interviews with engineers, developers, scientists, and client personnel
• Lead quantitative analyses of qualified research expenses, including wages, supplies, and contract research costs
• Review tax credit calculations, workpapers, narratives, technical memorandums, and client deliverables
• Develop and review technical documentation supporting credit claims and substantiation
• Perform advanced tax research involving federal and state R&D tax credit matters
• Advise clients regarding audit defense, examination support, and documentation best practices
• Stay current on legislative, regulatory, judicial, and administrative developments
• Collaborate with tax professionals across multiple practice areas to identify client opportunities
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor
• Manage engagement budgets, staffing, timelines, resources, and deliverables
• Mentor, coach, and develop managers, seniors, and associates
• Participate in client presentations, proposals, webinars, training sessions, and thought leadership initiatives
• Support business development efforts and generate new growth opportunities
• Assist clients with energy tax credits and other business incentive programs when applicable
• Collaborate with State & Local Tax professionals on multi-disciplinary engagements
