Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Director, Quantitative Software Engineer - Research Lead to partner with researchers, portfolio managers, and technology teams. You will accelerate research, build scalable data platforms, and translate innovative investment ideas into production-ready solutions.

Ideal candidates have extensive Python/R/MATLAB experience, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering reliable, data-driven research platforms in a collaborative, on-site setting in Chicago.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of software engineering experience with Python and/or R, Julia, or MATLAB in quantitative apps or data-intensive platforms.
Experience working with quantitative researchers, portfolio managers, or investment professionals.
Experience designing scalable data pipelines and analytical platforms.

Responsibilities

Partner with researchers, investment professionals, and tech teams to accelerate research and productionize concepts.
Design scalable research and data platforms to support investment insights and product innovation.
Lead complex technical initiatives and drive reliability, reproducibility, and security.
