Job summary

HDR is seeking a Pump Stations and Pipelines Business Class Director to lead technical capabilities across HDR's pump stations, pipelines, and tunneling programs. This role requires coordinating with market sectors, managing risk, and guiding project design through full lifecycle services.

The position emphasizes strategic planning, staff mentoring, and strong industry presence, with travel up to 50% and a commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture and values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field.
  • Professional or Architecture/Engineering registration is required for leadership roles.
  • Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other HDR directors and managers.
  • Commitment to HDR values and its employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
  • Build close working relationships and coordinate with related business classes, market sectors, business groups and operations.
  • Lead and participate in technical risk management and advisory services on projects.
  • Drive quality assurance and control processes in coordination with the Quality Manager.
  • Oversee development and application of technical tools, standards, and techniques.
  • Assign qualified staff to projects and manage resource allocation.
  • Develop strategic plans with market sector directors and provide input to leadership.
  • Lead research and engagement to advance WTEM technical capabilities and translation into practice.
  • Maintain relationships with university programs to support workforce development and recruitment.
  • Facilitate lessons learned and monitor performance to support project delivery.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
