Job summary

Helion, based in Everett, WA, seeks a senior leader to own the architecture of Orion's capacitor bank and drive end‑to‑end hardware development from prototype to production. You will lead a multidisciplinary team across electrical, mechanical, firmware, and thermal systems, ensuring manufacturability and reliability at scale.

You will own cost and schedule, defend design trades, and collaborate with Research, Science, Controls, and Manufacturing to keep ahead of physics insights as the Orion

Qualifications

  • 10+ years developing complex electromechanical hardware.
  • 4+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams (electrical, mechanical, firmware, thermal).
  • Prototype → production with design‑for‑manufacture mindset.
  • Technical depth in power electronics or pulsed energy systems, high‑reliability electromechanical design, or high‑volume hardware production.
  • Ownership of cost, schedule, and reliability at program scale; defend hard trades.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture of Orion's capacitor bank and its interfaces with the machine core.
  • Lead and mentor a cross‑functional team of engineers designing pulsed power modules.
  • Drive manufacturable design and move modules from prototype to production at high rate.
  • Own cost, schedule, and reliability for the module portfolio; set qualification bars.
  • Collaborate with Research, Science, and Controls to stay ahead of physics learnings.
