Job summary

The University of Virginia School of Law seeks to hire a Director of Public Service within the Mortimer Caplin Public Service Center (PSC).

The Director will provide highly individualized counseling to law students and graduates on public service career searches, develop programming, and coordinate employer outreach, working closely with PSC, the Office of Private Practice, and the Office of Judicial Clerkships.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree with five years of experience is required.
• A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school is strongly preferred.
• At least three years of experience working in a law practice following graduation, with at least one year in a public service law practice.
• Ideal candidate will have at least five years of law practice, with at least three in public service.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly individualized counseling to law students and graduates on public service career searches.
• Coordinate employer outreach, and develop programming and resources for public service careers.
• Collaborate with the PSC, Office of Private Practice, and Office of Judicial Clerkships in implementing programs and services.
• Assist in administering public service fellowships and support externally funded opportunities for graduates.
