Director, Public & Government Affairs – Global Public Policy
  • Identify Walmart’s public policy priorities in your area of expertise and collaborate with peers on related issues.
  • Develop strategic plans to address these priorities and work with colleagues to implement effective tactics.
  • Advise internal business partners on courses of action related to public policy priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze legislation, administrative or regulatory activities, and government initiatives at all levels that could impact Walmart, its employees, or customers.
  • Build and manage relationships with external trade associations, NGOs, policy experts, thought leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Leverage stakeholder relationships to promote Walmart’s policy priorities and enhance understanding of its societal role.
  • Conduct public policy research with internal and external partners.
  • Coordinate across internal functions to develop accurate public policy positions and responses to external factors.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and maintain policy workstreams and partnerships benefiting Walmart, its employees, and customers.
  • Communicate effectively through writing, speaking, and presentations.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of public policy experience with success in government, public affairs, or advocacy fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in government, political science, economics, international affairs, business, or related fields; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Deep understanding of policymaking at state/local, federal, and global levels and how to influence these processes.
  • Ability to tackle complex policy issues, anticipate challenges, and respond swiftly.
  • Skill in identifying courses of action and working with teams to implement solutions.
  • Comfort in advising senior leaders on policy strategies.
  • Experience navigating complex organizations and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships with integrity.
