Job summary

Bradsby Group is seeking a seasoned Wind Energy Project Developer to lead development programs for large utility-scale wind projects in the WECC region. The role requires self-motivation to own tasks end-to-end, deep knowledge of US power markets, and a proven track record in complex project delivery.

The candidate will oversee permitting, contract negotiations, and community engagement, working with cross-functional teams and external consultants to ensure projects meet time and budget targets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of energy project development experience with a proven track record in wind power development.
  • Experience with WECC and CAISO preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business; MBA is a plus.
  • Must be self-starter, organized, and capable of cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong financial skills including pro forma modeling, NPV/IRR analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the development program for identified wind projects.
  • Negotiate development agreements and oversee permitting processes.
  • Manage permitting and regulatory engagements and resolve issues.
  • Develop local community support for the project and build stakeholder relations.
  • Manage relationships and develop commercial agreements with potential project off-takers.
  • Direct external consultants and coordinate with engineering, finance, origination, external affairs, legal, and asset management; provide regular updates to management.

Job description

Leading in the project management, execution, and development of prospective greenfield wind power and other renewable generation projects in the WECC region. Candidate must be self-motivated and be willing to take initiative to complete project elements on time and on budget, and have a deep understanding of and track record in the successful development of large utility or energy projects. A deep knowledge of US power markets, knowledge of ISOs and their operating rules, and familiarity with state RPS and other incentives driving renewable energy development are required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.

The position reports to the Vice President, Renewable Energy.

Summary Of Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute the development program for identified projects
  • Negotiate necessary development agreements
  • Manage the permitting process, anticipate and resolve other project development activities as required
  • Develop local community support for the project
  • Manage relationships and develop commercial agreements with potential project output off-takers
  • Direct external consultants and coordinate with internal departments, including engineering, finance, energy management/origination, external affairs, legal, and asset management
  • Administrative responsibilities to include regular updates to Management on project progress, action items and budget
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant energy project development experience with a proven track record in successful development of wind power projects
  • Experience with WECC and CAISO preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in engineering or business, MBA
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and able to work well with personnel at all levels in the organization; must possess top level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Strong financial skills and understanding of company and project profit and loss, pro forma modeling, and NPV/IRR analysis
  • Possess a strong understanding of real estate matters and complexities
  • Ability to gather, organize and systematically analyze complex information
  • Effective problem-solving skills: ability to work from concept to analytics, identify alternatives and develop unique solutions
  • Excellent writing, communications, presentation, interpersonal, problem-solving, financial analysis, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel 30-50% as necessary
