Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in professional coding including auditing/management.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and reimbursement requirements.
• Supervisory experience of professional coding staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the daily operations of the Physician Coding Department.
• Provides training and evaluates education plans and performance improvement.
• Collaborates with HIM/Coding and Practice Management to identify practitioner strengths and improvement needs.
• Responds to coding and reimbursement questions from physicians and management, researching as needed.
• Develops and delivers training materials for coding applications and processes.
• Develops and reports performance measures to medical staff and other departments.
• Manages KPI tracking and action plans for underperforming areas.
• Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Supports IT testing for EPIC modifications and related systems.
• Keeps current on coding and reimbursement rules and trends.
