Job summary

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Director, Production , you will:

  • Lead and develop project plans and production schedules for all books and digital projects in conjunction with the editorial director, project manager, Editorial Services, and Creative Services
  • Oversee and coordinate the proof process with authors and editors in accordance with current best practices.
  • Ensure that all projects are produced in accordance with the production schedule, making adjustments as needed during the process
  • Evaluate and maintain the partnership with the PharmacyLibrary platform vendor and internal digital content manager to ensure that PL meets the needs of its customers
  • Assist in creating P&L statements for all new and revised titles
  • Manage inventory and coordinate with warehouse and POD vendors to ensure books are fulfilled in a timely manner
  • Prepare author and editor royalty statements on a semiannual basis
  • Maintain sales and usage data on APhA dashboard on a monthly basis and identify trends to inform decision making

LOCATION: Washington, DC – Hybrid, two days a week in the office (Tuesday & Thursday)

Experience and Education required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or related area is required. A science or health-related degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with periodical or book production experience, with a minimum of 4 years of experience producing scientific publications.

Skills, knowledge and abilities required:

  • Experience producing health- or science-related publication(s)
  • Experience working with multiple publications concurrently
  • Experience working with online platforms and AI strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a high-pressure deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in publishing software. Multimedia skills are a plus
