Job description

Ahold Delhaize is one of the world's largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-Commerce. Its family of great, local brands serves more than 50 million customers each week in Europe, the United States and Indonesia. Together, these brands employ more than 420,000 associates in more than 7,000 grocery and specialty stores. Our Global Support Office (GSO) is based in Zaandam in the Netherlands, but GSO associates also work in all the countries we serve. This team supports all our great local brands in finance, HR, IT, legal, communications, sustainable retailing, and other key functions.

Product Owner Pay & Rewards

As our new Product Owner - Pay and Rewards, you will operate at the heart of a part of our global, fast-moving company. By formulating and executing the product roadmap, you ensure Ahold Delhaize has the processes and structures in place to continue our high-level performance.

You will be joining our HR Tech, Data Innovation & Associate Experience department. Our HR department is the driving force behind the people in our organization. Powered by our ‘Best Talent’ strategy, our HR teams ensure we’re fully aligned to attract, retain, and develop people to perform to the best of their abilities. As Ahold Delhaize and the field of HR evolve continuously, we encourage our associates to grow with us. Personal development and learning are vital. The more we learn, the better we’re able to ensure that the rest of the organization learns and develops too. We’re collaborative, ambitious, and open, taking ownership of our work, and continuously challenge ourselves and each other. That said, we work hard and have lots of fun along the way, too.

You will be given the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work and broaden your horizons by working together with knowledgeable colleagues from different countries who have an abundance of expertise in many areas. We will continually invest in you and help you build on your talents and skills for the future.

Key responsibilities of your role

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:

  • Product Vision and Strategy: Develop and maintain a clear product vision and strategy for pay and rewards that aligns with business objectives and associate needs. Communicate the product roadmap to all stakeholders.
  • Backlog Management: Prioritize the product backlog based on business value, stakeholder input, and user feedback. Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of product increments related to pay and rewards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with HR, IT, and business leaders to gather requirements and understand pain points related to pay and rewards. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams.
  • Agile Development: Lead Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives) within squads to ensure efficient development processes for pay and rewards solutions.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics to inform product decisions and measure product performance. Identify and act on opportunities for product improvement based on data insights.
  • User Experience: Design and advocate for a user-centric approach in pay and rewards product design and development. Ensure products are intuitive and user-friendly for a diverse workforce.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in pay and rewards solutions. Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in product development.
  • Communicating and Reporting: Provide regular updates on product status, performance metrics, and future plans to stakeholders. Ensure transparency and alignment across all levels of the organization.

Specific Pay & Rewards Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Compensation Management: Develop and enhance systems for managing base pay, bonuses, and incentives. Ensure alignment with company policies and market trends.
  • Benefits Administration: Oversee the development and improvement of benefits administration systems, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
  • Payroll Processing: Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processing systems. Collaborate with payroll teams to address any issues and implement improvements.
  • Performance-Based Rewards: Design and implement systems for performance-based rewards, including merit increases, promotions, and recognition programs.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that pay and rewards systems comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Generate reports and analytics to support decision-making and compliance.

What’s in it for you?

Aside from what we ask of you in this role, we also have a great deal to offer you: plenty of growth opportunities and various cross-brand career options; flexible working hours; a hybrid working model (we ask you to spend at least 50% of your working time at the office); and the chance to drive meaningful change on a global scale. You can look forward to a good work-life balance, and the chance to work in an inclusive environment that wholeheartedly encourages growth and welcomes you just the way you are.

Requirements

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

  • At least 3-10 years of experience in product management or a related field, with a proven track record of managing complex products or portfolios.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and product management best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with HR systems, data analytics tools, and emerging HR technologies.

Aside from these hard skills, we think you should also bring some much-valued soft skills to the table: an entrepreneurial mindset, outspoken communication skills, and a proactive approach. In addition to these, a high level of creativity, empathy, and enthusiasm will take you far.
