Job description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Drive revenue and gross margin for the business
  • Monitor sales and backlogs
  • Participate in annual budgeting and 5‑year planning; help set revenue and profitability targets to support the 5‑Year Plan
  • Review financial and shipping results and monitor monthly; taking action as required
  • Monitor and maximize revenue, gross margins and BOP
  • Initiate, drive and monitor cost‑reduction activities
  • Help with business case preparations of R&D investments and CapEx investments; project 5‑year investment roadmap on R&D investments for your products
  • Monitor R&D and CapEx investments associated with your products; measure and report the ROIC per business case
  • Monitor cost effectiveness of tactical programs, capital expenditures and capacity plans with operations teams
  • Ensure consistent achievement of customer, project, cost and quality results to support annual and strategic plans
  • Support 5‑Year Planning process with forward‑looking input and plans to achieve number one market share and industry profits
Drive Design Wins and Ongoing Business/Market Share
  • Work with sales channels/distributors and product marketing worldwide to bring in identified design‑in opportunities into the BU
  • Work with product marketing and sales to develop customer engagement plans and lead teams to execute wins
  • Develop and manage strong business/technical relationships with customers
  • Drive product engineering teams to design and develop manufacturable standard and customized products to achieve market share leadership
  • Work with Product Development teams to ensure new products are done on schedule and on budget with improvements in cycle time
Sales Support
  • Drive sales teams to maximize bookings and revenues for your products
  • Translate customer requirements into profitable product offerings in line with strategic goals
  • Review customer requirements and work with Sales/Marketing/R&D/Ops teams on winning proposals – specs & pricing
  • Ensure customer requirements are quickly and successfully transferred into new design concepts
  • New design concepts are created and designed which provide significant revenue growth
  • Ensure engineering team provides customers outstanding technical support leading to repeat business and new bookings at the expense of our competitors
  • Develop product requirements into new designs and prototypes that meet or exceed competitors and are delivered within customer requirements
Product Life Cycle Management
  • Responsible for maintaining the product and ensuring cross‑functional compliance to product life‑cycle processes
  • As a key part of the PLC team, prepare business cases for new development projects
  • Monitor progress of R&D projects and metrics
  • Understand business impacts of customer wins/losses and assist leadership to manage from a portfolio perspective
  • Ensure engineering products/processes are transitioned effectively into production products and processes
  • Ensure reliability and qualification test data sets are current to support market opportunities
Operations Support
  • Assist Operations in forecasting and revenue planning; responsible for the unconstrained forecast after discussions with the sales team
  • Monitor and coordinate order fulfillment processes to meet cost, lead‑time, on‑time delivery, volumes, quality and margin objectives; in case of constraints or issues, escalation and drive mitigation actions with other members of the team; provide allocation of which customer orders to fulfil each week
  • Drive ongoing cost‑reduction activities
  • Benchmark costs and work with Ops/NPI/Supply chain/Contract Manufacturers to achieve cost targets, buffers and roadmaps
  • Assist R&D and supply chain in identifying new vendors/CMs and participate in negotiations with key CMs/suppliers
  • Collaborate closely with other BUs that supply components (in‑feed) to ensure they remain competitive and are always 100% supplier of choice
  • Work with Operations on capacity expansion Capital business case to support volume forecast
  • Track and ensure ROIC on CAR associates with their Products
Marketing Support
  • Assist in defining and driving product strategy
  • Monitor competitive landscape
  • Develop sales ware and support marketing by preparing product launch collateral
Education & Experience
  • BA or BS in Engineering required; MBA or MS/PhD in Engineering strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management/Engineering Leadership roles in the materials or related industry
  • Deep understanding of high‑speed optical transceivers and related technology
  • Familiarity with hyper‑scale and switch/ASIC vendor ecosystems
  • A proven track record of product management leadership
  • Ideal candidate demonstrates ownership, strategic thinking, cross‑functional leadership and driving product vision/roadmaps
  • History of making data‑driven decisions, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and delivering measurable business results
Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial instruments: P&L, balance sheet, income statement
  • Ability to work successfully with employees and customers in a multi‑cultural, global team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency
