Job summary

Q2 is seeking a Director of Product Management to own the strategy, roadmap, and experience for the developer platform. This role spans APIs, SDKs, Q2 Code, the developer portal, sandboxes, marketplace, and design system integration, unifying surfaces into a cohesive platform.

You will lead a cross-functional team at the intersection of product, engineering, and GTM, shaping the vision and ensuring security, availability, and privacy across developer-facing products.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of product management experience with 3+ years leading platform or developer APIs.
• 5-7 years managing and developing teams.
• Strong background in financial services, fintech, or API platforms.
• Experience owning developer platforms or API products (APIs/SDKs/portals/marketplaces).
• Familiarity with open banking and data interoperability standards (FDX) preferred.
• Proficient in Agile development and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

SUMMARY

Q2 is looking for a Director of Product Management to own the strategy, roadmap, and experience for Q2’s developer platform — the tools and services that let internal teams, partners, and customers build, extend, and integrate with Q2. This includes our public APIs and SDKs, Q2 Code, the developer portal, developer sandboxes, the marketplace, Tecton (our design system), and our FDX open-banking connectivity. This is a highly cross-functional role at the intersection of product, engineering, and go-to-market. You will set the vision for the developer platform, partner with engineering on the APIs, tooling, and infrastructure that support it, and make sure our products work together as a single, coherent platform rather than a collection of disconnected surfaces. You will own the developer experience end to end — from the first API call through production integration — for the partners, customers, and internal teams who build on Q2.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and execute product strategy and long-term vision for Q2’s developer platform — APIs, SDKs, Q2 Code, developer portal, sandboxes, marketplace, Tecton (our design system), and FDX/open banking connectivity
• Build, lead, and develop a team of product managers — owning hiring, org design, and performance for the function
• Set prioritization and pace for platform investment, ensuring the team’s execution — working with engineering and scrum teams in an Agile environment — stays aligned to strategy and business goals
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders across engineering, design, legal, risk, compliance, and go-to-market to deliver platform initiatives
• Ensure adherence to security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy standards across developer-facing products and data connectivity
• Own budget, resourcing, and investment decisions for the developer platform function
• Represent Q2 externally with partners, fintechs, and industry bodies (e.g., FDX) on platform and open-banking strategy
• Communicate platform strategy, progress, and business impact to executives, the board, and key partners

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

• 12+ years of experience; advanced degree with 8+ years acceptable, including 3+ years leading platform, API, or developer-facing products
• 5-7 years managing and developing employees
• Strong background in product management within financial services, fintech, or developer/API platforms
• Direct experience owning developer platforms or API products — public APIs, SDKs, developer portals, or marketplaces
• Familiarity with open banking and data-interoperability standards (FDX or similar) and financial-data access/consent models preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Agile development, API/platform architecture, and data or analytics tooling
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
