Position Overview

The Director of Pricing is a key commercial leader responsible for optimizing fare structures, competitive pricing actions, and market positioning to maximize passenger revenue. This role leads a focused team of pricing managers and analysts, ensuring pricing strategies remain responsive, data‑driven, and aligned with overall commercial objectives. Success requires strong analytical acumen, daily market vigilance, and close coordination with yield management, revenue strategy, and network teams.

Responsibilities
  • Market Strategy & Daily Pricing Management: Oversee daily pricing performance, competitive fare actions, and key market indicators to guide both tactical and strategic decisions. Monitor pricing trends, demand signals, and competitor behavior to identify opportunities and risks. Ensure fare structures, price points, and price ladders remain aligned with market conditions and customer behavior. Conduct daily and weekly pricing reviews, setting clear priorities for the pricing team. Ensure consistent, repeatable pricing processes that support improved revenue outcomes.
  • Set Pricing Strategy & Direction: Translate commercial priorities into clear pricing strategies aligned with revenue and market‑share goals. Partner with Yield Management and Decision Science to refine pricing models, dynamic fare structures, and demand‑sensitive pricing methods. Balance short‑term pricing revenue needs with longer‑term strategic positioning across competitive markets.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Manage, coach, and develop a team of pricing analysts and managers, fostering a culture of ownership, analytical rigor, and agility. Build capability within the team to act quickly based on market intelligence and data‑driven insights.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Revenue Analysis, Strategy & Best Practices, Network Planning, and Marketing to align pricing initiatives with broader commercial goals. Serve as the primary point of contact for pricing‑related performance updates and insights. Collaborate closely with the Director of Yield Management to maintain alignment between pricing and inventory controls.
  • Operational & System Leadership: Partner with RM system teams to ensure pricing tools, fare filing processes (ATPCO), and configurations support accuracy, speed, and market agility. Drive improvements in automation, reporting, and pricing workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
  • 6–8 years of experience in airline pricing, revenue management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing analysts/managers.
  • Proven expertise in competitive pricing, fare filing, and daily market management.
  • Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools; Python or similar programming experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly to leadership.
