Job summary

Generate Capital in San Francisco seeks a Director of Portfolio Finance to lead the daily execution and tranching of projects into tax equity and debt facilities. This role oversees the distributed generation portfolio, starting with Community Solar initiatives.

You will manage debt and tax equity processes, build lender relationships, and guide financial forecasting and GAAP reporting. The position reports to Investments/Structured Finance and leads a small team.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in project finance, tax equity, or structured finance, ideally within renewable energy or infrastructure.
• Strong financial modeling skills across debt and tax equity structures.
• Experience managing lender and counterparty relationships and leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Own the debt side of the Community Solar portfolio end-to-end: lead financing milestone execution with bank lenders and manage lender relationships.
• Lead tax equity execution across active funds: capital commitments, tranche fundings, ITC monetization, and document negotiations.
• Own portfolio financial forecasts and models; establish cash and GAAP reporting controls.
• Direct transaction and financing workstreams: diligence, data rooms, engineer deliverables, regulatory filings, closing.
• Maintain a feedback loop with Investments and Structured Finance to align pricing and financing structures with portfolio experience.
• Lead a team including a Manager with Analyst and Associate resources.

Role Overview

Generate Capital, a sustainable infrastructure investment platform, is hiring a Director of Portfolio Finance to lead the daily execution and tranching of projects into tax equity and debt facilities. This role serves as the operational project finance leader for Generate's distributed generation portfolio, with an initial focus on the Community Solar program.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the debt side of the Community Solar portfolio end-to-end: lead construction and permanent financing milestone execution with bank lenders, own lender relationships, and manage exposure limits, draws, compliance and amendments
• Lead tax equity execution across active funds: annual capital commitments, MC/interim/SC tranche fundings, ITC monetization and insurance, and support term sheet and definitive document negotiations
• Own portfolio financial forecasts and models across assets, debt, and tax equity; establish consistent assumptions, definitions, and controls for cash and GAAP reporting
• Direct transaction and financing workstreams: diligence, data rooms, independent engineer deliverables, regulatory filings, and closing execution
• Maintain a feedback loop with the Investments and Structured Finance teams so pricing assumptions and financing structures for new opportunities reflect portfolio experience
• Lead a team including a Manager with Analyst and Associate resources
