We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Policy, Trust & Safety to lead and evolve The Knot Worldwide’s user protection strategy across our platforms and brands. This role is responsible for safeguarding the integrity of our content, community, and vendor marketplace, while ensuring a safe and joyful experience for our users.

You’ll lead the development of scalable policies and partner closely with product, legal, engineering, communications, sales and customer experience colleagues to uphold standards that build trust with couples, vendors, and partners. You will lead communications and reporting to senior leadership regarding platform policy. This position will report to our VP, Global Corporate and Compliance.

This role is responsible for safeguarding the integrity of our content, community, and vendor marketplace, while ensuring a safe and joyful experience for our users.

You’ll lead the development of scalable policies and partner closely with product, legal, engineering, communications, sales and customer experience colleagues to uphold standards that build trust with couples, vendors, and partners. You will lead communications and reporting to senior leadership regarding platform policy. This position will report to our VP, Global Corporate and Compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trust & Safety Strategy: Develop and own The Knot Worldwide’s trust and safety framework, with clear KPIs for platform integrity, content moderation, and user security.
  • Policy Design & Enforcement: Define and implement policies and procedures related to marketplace platforms, including content guidelines, vendor review standards, terms of use and platform policies, including nondiscrimination, anti-harassment and other policies, and fraud-prevention protocols. Regularly evaluate and update based on emerging risks and trends.
  • Vendor & Marketplace Integrity: Oversee programs to detect and prevent fake reviews, vendor and user misconduct, impersonation, vendor and user verification, and platform abuse.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Legal, Product, Engineering, Sales, Customer Support, and Communications functions to ensure trust and safety is embedded across the user journey.
  • Platform Tools & Automation: Drive improvements to moderation workflows, abuse detection systems, and internal enforcement tools.
  • External Engagement: Collaborate with third-party vendors, law enforcement (as appropriate), and industry partners to uphold best practices and maintain compliance.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:
  • 8–10+ years of relevant experience in trust & safety, platform policy, content moderation, user risk management, or a related field
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role managing high-stakes user safety or platform integrity issuesStrong understanding of online community dynamics, abuse prevention strategies, and fraud detection and enforcement
  • Experience managing incidents and escalations with discretion, empathy, and operational rigor
  • Deep cross-functional instincts — you know how to build partnerships across legal, product, ops, comms and executive teams
  • Outstanding judgment and communication skills, especially when dealing with nuanced or emotionally sensitive user concerns
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and legal frameworks, including data privacy and online safety lawsExperience with consumer tech platforms, marketplaces, or user-generated content is a plusExperience working on global teams is a plus

WORK MODEL:

This role is Together@TKWW-eligible and based near one of our office hubs. Starting September 15, 2025, you’ll be expected to work in the office two days a week as part of our hybrid work model.
