Position Overview:

*This position is eligible to work from home within the Sutter Health Northern California footprint.

Oversees all portfolio and project management activities for Enterprise Business Systems ("EBS") within Sutter Digital Services. Manage key projects, programs, initiatives within Enterprise Business Systems and oversees delivery components for technology-related projects within EBS. Works closely with functional stakeholders to develop, advance and executive on digital opportunities enabling improved and automated business processes. Develops, implements, and maintains strategies, processes, tools and methodologies to support ongoing project management activities and oversees the management of scope, issues, risks, work plans, communications, resources and budget (capital and operating) within assigned large projects. Also leads change management, training development, organization adoption, and methodology controls. Advises and coordinates information and activity across EBS, functional area stakeholders, and executives on project status, resources. Provides leadership and direction for resources and ensures alignment with functional needs and EBS / Digital Serivices strategy. Serves as a liaison to senior leadership as well as to internal and external user groups. Responsible for ensuring proper application of standard Sutter and Digital Services project management methodology, tools, and templates. Participates in project performance reporting, including trends, service levels, and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as early identification of portfolio-level and program-level risks that are impacting performance, and formulating recommendations for prioritizing action needed.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrate personal ownership and commitment to portfolio, program and project management principles, standards and outcomes
  • Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change
  • Ability to quickly make sound decisions in ambiguous situations, leveraging knowledge of the business and stakeholder support
  • Demonstrated strength in assessing, motivating, and managing staff, including the ability to set direction and approach and resolve conflict
  • Ability to lead and influence in the coaching and mentoring of team members
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management, governance formulation, and team management for successful transformation from concept to implementation
  • Ability to manage the IS project portfolio for quality and delivery and ensure alignment with organizational strategy and priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methods, techniques and tools to facilitate the successful completion of assigned projects within budget and on time
  • Broad understanding of software development life cycle disciplines, including work plan development and maintenance
  • Highly developed comprehension of the interaction and balance between business levers and people impacts in large scale change management projects, as well as a working understanding of the related technology requirements
  • Understanding of and experience with Lean or other process improvement philosophies and methodologies desired
  • Analytic skills to quickly identify problems, to effectively negotiate with diverse audiences and to develop viable solutions
  • Develop positive relationships among internal and external customers, co-workers and management
  • Analytical, oral communication, written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with peers, staff, senior management and vendors
  • Ability to lead a team that supports several internal departments on operational issues
  • Project management skills that demonstrate successful program transition from concept to implementation to results to “look-back” evaluation
  • Expert level skills in cross-functional team building, consensus building, conflict resolution, and risk management
  • Advanced level of competency in software tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, MS Project and Visio, as well as data management

Pay Range is $83.00 to $132.80 / hour. Sacramento Valley Area Pay Range is $83.00 to $132.80 / hour. San Francisco Bay Area Pay Range is $94.32 to $150.90 / hour.

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
