Job summary

Herrick Labs in Germantown, MD seeks a Lead Engineer to steer HTL’s engineering team in developing next-generation tactical products and platform integration for DoD missions.

You will manage a small team, drive hardware and software integration, and coordinate with customers to produce cost and schedule estimates and status reports. Relevant defense electronics and DSP/FPGA expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Extensive experience in high technology electronics development including direction finding antennas, transceivers, DSP/FPGA.
• Experience with military ground and airborne environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small engineering team in development, integration, testing and release-to-production of HTL products including DF antennas and transceivers.
• Manage NRE projects as subcontractor on government programs.
• Oversee timesheets, expenses, staffing and performance reviews for the team.
• Provide technical leadership for cross-functional projects and coordinate with Program Management.
• Develop cost and schedule estimates, staffing plans and status reports with customers.
• Create system diagrams, data sheets, component specs, test plans, and user manuals.
• Support prototype build and HW/SW integration, and field testing.
• Guide the transition of new products to production and hand off with manufacturing engineering.

Overview

Lead HTL’s Engineering team responsible for developing next-generation tactical products, antennas, systems-of-systems, and leading platform integration projects to support DoD missions.

Location: Germantown, MD

Position Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Managing a small team of engineers in development, integration, testing and releasing-to-production new HTL products including DF antennas, amplifiers and other tactical peripherals.
• Managing NRE projects where HTL is a subcontractor and member of a broader government team.
• Management responsibilities including reviewing and signing timesheets and expense reports, assigning team members to projects and monitoring performance, individual performance reviews/evaluations.
• Project Engineering responsibilities include technical leadership of cross-functional project team in developing products.
• Working directly with Program Management and external customers to develop cost and schedule estimates, staffing plans, status reports, etc.
• Other work products include product-line roadmaps, system diagrams, system data sheets, component specifications, test plans, and user’s manuals.
• Support building and testing prototype systems, HW and SW integration, and field testing.
• Leading the transition of new products to production through the generation of module and system test procedures and working with the manufacturing engineering team to complete the handoff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Master’s Degree Preferred.
• Other disciplines may be considered as well.
• Relevant industry experience in high technology electronics development is a must including direction finding antennas, transceivers, DSP/FPGA technology and associated packaging.
• Experience with military ground and airborne environments is an advantage.
