Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation in Chicago seeks a Director of Platform Engineering to lead a team of engineers and managers focused on reliability, observability, and cloud platform excellence. You will drive SRE, governance of SLOs/SLAs, and champion IaC-driven tooling in a regulated environment.

You will mentor technical teams, manage hiring and performance, and collaborate with architecture to meet CIS/NIST-inspired controls while delivering scalable, secure cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in IT, cloud engineering, or platform engineering roles.
• Hands-on expertise in SRE, observability, and cloud platforms at scale.
• Proven leadership in building and maturing platform reliability programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and managers focused on SRE, observability, and cloud platform engineering.
• Drive reliability, observability maturity, and cloud efficiency across a large cloud environment.
• Define SLOs/SLAs and govern SLOs in code with IaC tools.
• Mentor staff, manage performance, and oversee hiring and career development.
• Partner with architecture to align platform initiatives with regulatory controls.
