Job summary

Stellarus is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering and Tools to lead distributed teams across platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and DevSecOps. You will partner with Product, IT, and Security to align engineering strategy with business goals and drive modernization of delivery pipelines.

The role requires a track record in cloud transformation, CI/CD tooling, and GitOps, with strong leadership and cross-functional influence. Hybrid in-office collaboration is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS, or high school diploma with 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 10 years of software engineering, infrastructure, or platform experience.
  • 6 years of people management experience managing multiple reports.
  • Experience leading DevSecOps and cloud transformation with CI/CD tooling and GitOps workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and multi-cluster, multi-tenant environments.

Responsibilities
Your Work
In This Role, You Will
  • Build and sustain a high-performance engineering culture rooted in empowerment, ownership, and continuous improvement, championing transformation at both the team and organizational level
  • Lead and grow distributed technical teams across platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and DevSecOps disciplines, fostering an environment where engineers can do their best work
  • Partner closely with senior leadership across Product, Product pricing, IT, and Security to align engineering strategy with business priorities, influencing roadmaps and organizational direction at the executive level
  • Drive the organization's DevSecOps evolution, modernizing application delivery pipelines using CI/CD, GitOps, and shift-left security practices, embedding a product mindset across engineering teams
  • Serve as an internal technology advocate, identifying emerging trends, evaluating their business impact, and partnering with architecture teams to champion adoption across the enterprise
  • Establish and maintain healthy engineering lifecycles across all areas of ownership, ensuring platforms remain current, secure, and fit for purpose
  • Establish an Enterprise Tools team that builds and supports tools such as Linear, Notion, and our ITSM suite that is to be determined
Qualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS, or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 10 years prior relevant experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform
  • 6 years of prior people management experience with direct responsibility for supervising, coaching, and evaluating direct reports
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations through DevSecOps and cloud transformation, including hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tooling, GitOps workflows, and modern release practices
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), infrastructure automation, multi-cluster environments with an understanding of multi-tenancy and security
  • Track record of cross-functional influence, translating technical strategy into business value for non-technical stakeholders and building trusted relationships with senior leadership
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, with a bias for action, structured thinking, and the ability to drive alignment across competing priorities
  • Preferred Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS
  • Preferred 6 years leading technical teams — including at least 5 years managing multiple concurrent teams across diverse disciplines

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
