Due to heavy travel required for this role, candidates must reside in the eastern side of the USA near an airport.
Position Summary:
The Director of Physician Relations is responsible for building and managing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in order to support the strategic objectives of the company. This role will be pivotal in developing strong, long-term relationships with influential physicians and thought leaders in the Cardiovascular community. The ideal candidate will leverage their existing relationships, excellent communication and relationship management skills, along with business and clinical acumen to engage KOLs in order to drive scientific collaboration, therapy adoption/advocacy, and thought leadership. This individual is core to physician relationship management for Recor and will develop and maintain deep relationships with many KOLs. Given the responsibilities of the role, the Director of Physician Relations is expected to work closely with Medical Education in planning and executing various initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
KOL Strategy Development and Execution
· Develop and execute a comprehensive KOL management strategy to engage, nurture, and expand relationships with key influencers in the cardiovascular space.
· Lead the cross-functional team effort to identify and assess KOLs across relevant therapeutic areas.
· Align KOL engagement with company goals and strategic priorities.
Physician Relationship Management
· Foster long-term relationships with KOLs, physicians, and other thought leaders in the treating and referring community.
· Serve as the primary point of contact between KOLs and internal teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
· Manage ongoing interactions with KOLs, facilitate opportunities for them to participate in advisory boards, speaking engagements, and research studies.
· Partner with Compliance to oversee the HCP engagement and payment process.
· Ensure a positive customer experience through various touch points.
Cross Functional Collaboration
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including medical education, scientific affairs, clinical affairs, commercial and marketing to ensure alignment on messaging, priorities and initiatives.
· Support Medical Education initiatives by working with KOLs to provide educational content and thought leadership that enhances Recor leadership position in the scientific communities.
· Leverage KOLs’ expertise to support cross-functional initiatives (e.g. clinical trials, advisory boards, product launch, etc.) by providing feedback and market insights.
· Leverage KOL insights to guide decision-making and influence strategic direction within the company.
Program Metrics
· Track and report on KOL engagement activities, providing updates to senior leadership on the effectiveness of strategies and initiatives.
· Develop and monitor performance metrics to assess the success of KOL relationships and initiatives.
· Ensure all interactions with KOLs and healthcare professionals are compliant with relevant industry regulations.
· Manage physician relations budget to ensure efficient use of resources.
Requirements:
· Reside in the east coast or eastern side of the USA near an airport.
· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees (i.e. MSc, MBA) preferred.
· 10+ years of medical device industry experience in Medical Education, Medical Affairs or Marketing.
· Prior roles with customer-facing experience in the cardiovascular space in the medical device industry.
· Strategic thinking to understand physician needs and focus on driving initiatives that can impact the business.
· Proven track record in designing and executing customer-facing programs.
· Competence and credibility to build relationships of trust with physicians and associated professional staff.
· Ability to work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing and Medical Education to execute on various initiatives and programs.
· Self-motivated and proactive with a positive attitude
· Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
· Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication skills
· Expect to travel up to 40% of the time
Salary Range: $232,331- $261,038 (Annual Salary)
The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
