Job summary

Piedmont seeks an experienced healthcare practice operations leader to direct day-to-day activities across multiple physician offices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field is required or
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in a healthcare practice management setting may be substituted for the educational requirement
  • 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in strategic healthcare operations or supervising a physician office is required or
  • In lieu of degree 11 years of progressively responsible work experience in a healthcare practice management setting may be substituted for the educational requirement

  • Implements and oversees operational activities to achieve business plans and maintain compliant environments.
  • Partner with physicians and managers to maximize professional services reimbursement and maintain high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of registration, billing, scheduling, and patient services processes across practices.
  • Prepare reports and budgets and monitor financial performance of departments.
  • Meet regularly with physicians and managers to discuss policies, problems and opportunities.
  • Audit credentialing, licensing and other compliance records as needed.

Responsibilities

Directs and supports the day-to-day operational policies, objectives and initiatives of multiple physician medical group practices as well as managing directly assigned practices. Implements and oversees operational activities and programs to ensure the attainment of the business plans. Ensures that each office maintains an effective operating environment, assuring efficient and safe operations of all services in response to patient, physician and staff needs.

What You Will Do
  • Ensures that each office practice follows Physician Enterprise office policies and procedures; adheres to all Piedmont Healthcare Corporation policies and procedures and local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and maintains all DNV, OSHA and other standards relating to the operation of a physician office involved in the practice of medicine.
  • Participates in the process of interviewing, hiring, training, appraising, handling corrective actions, addressing complaints and resolving problems of managers.
  • Monitors the submission of timely, accurate and complete reports and information to appropriate offices.
  • Works with local physicians and managers to ensure the maximization of professional services reimbursement.
  • Ensures that local managers resolve conflicts and promote cohesiveness in their practices, serves as liaison between the practices and other clinical and administrative components of Physician Enterprise, and intervenes as necessary if problems or disputes continue.
  • Researches and reviews reports for unusual operational practices, remains current with coding and insurance practices so as to be able to provide a resource to managers concerning requirements.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with other areas of Physician Enterprise to improve efficiencies, simplify procedures, and increase productivity.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the tasks performed in all practice offices, including such things as registration, charge posting, cash balancing, billing, auditing, reception, supply acquisition, customer service, patient financial counseling, etc.
  • Prepares reports and analysis reflecting progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions for improvements or course corrections.
  • Establishes and maintains systems that ensures coordination of the purchase of medical and office supplies and equipment, establishes and maintains inventory, and establishes a maintenance evaluation program to ensure timely repairs and the proper functioning of equipment.
  • Assists managers to prepare and maintain departmental budgets and monitors the execution of the budget.
  • Meets regularly with the physicians, managers and office employees to bring them up-to-date on activities and new policies and to discuss problems and opportunities.
  • Audits physician and office employee files to insure required information is being maintained for credentialing, managed care agreements, licensing, DNV, etc.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in business administration, healthcare administration, or a closely related field Required or
  • In Lieu of degree Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in a healthcare practice management setting may be substituted for the educational requirement Required
Work Experience
  • 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in strategic healthcare operations or supervising or managing a physician office practice is Required or
  • In lieu of degree 11 years of progressively responsible work experience in a healthcare practice management setting may be substituted for the educational requirement Required
