Job summary

Optum is seeking a Director, Payer Technology Optum Advisory to lead delivery on complex payer engagements. The role emphasizes leadership across matrixed teams, applying AI to enhance outcomes, and ensuring executive-ready communications.

Remote work is available nationwide with in-office requirements in certain regions. You will guide solution architecture, manage client relationships, and drive value through strategic initiatives, risk management, and practice development within Optum

Qualifications

• 8+ years in healthcare payer management consulting.
• 5+ years in healthcare payer domain with expertise in claims, provider, finance, enrollment & eligibility, billing, or utilization management.
• 3+ years in Agile development methodology including Capability Management and Program Increment Planning.
• 3+ years of presenting to clients and senior executive audiences.
• Proven experience leading large-scale core admin system implementations or migrations.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and deliverables.
• Business development experience identifying opportunities and expanding client engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery leadership on complex consulting engagements.
• Coordinate matrixed client and consulting teams across business, technology, operations, and executives.
• Leverage AI-enabled solutions to strengthen solutioning and value realization.
• Document end-state definitions, future-state processes, and technical reference architecture.
• Diagnose issues and define practical, measurable solutions.
• Coach and develop team members and ensure high-quality outputs.
• Serve as primary day-to-day client contact and deliver executive-ready updates.
• Manage project economics, quality standards, and delivery practices.
