Job Title: Director, Payer Expert, Market Access Insights & Solutions

About the Job

TheDirector, Payer Expert, Market Access Insights & Solutionsreports to the Head of Business Insights & Solutions. This individual will leverage their deep Health Plan/PBM/aggregator/channel experience & innovator/disruptor mindset to help identify future access models and partnership opportunities. This individual will have a strong command of the current market access landscape [short term trends] including provider/patient dynamics so he / she can look to build future market access payer scenarios [long term trends], relevant action plans and the potential implications for Sanofi. This talented individual will work to support the development of above-brand access models and solutions, as well as assist the access teams in pilot rollouts.

A key focus of this individual will be to provide deeper insights into Health Plans / PBM models, build new solutions to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities, and develop value-based or risk-sharing models. This individual will help brand leads plan for new launches by networking with industry stakeholders and building new concepts either within Sanofi or in partnership with external stakeholders to advance & test the future go-to-market strategies for the access teams. Further, this individual will leverage AI and ML to find relevant application to Sanofi's market access teams and their customers to drive efficiencies as well as innovation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Business Insights & Solutions team to think strategically through new PBM models, channel disruptors and their sustainability.
  • Ensure Sanofi is holistically looking across PBM, Payer, & Employer strategies and how the priorities of these stakeholders' impact not only each other but also the responses by competitors and other entities.
  • Build new disruptive prototype models, simulations in collaboration with Business Insights & Solutions, Value & Access, and other matrix teams.
  • Own innovation workstreams and provide actionable plans in partnership with the cross-functional team.
  • Develop value-based and risk-sharing models to optimize market access and patient outcomes.
  • Support brand leads in planning and executing successful new product launches.
  • Identify the expected impact of healthcare landscape changes, including disruptors (technology, channel, etc.).
  • Monitor and assess the US healthcare environment to identify trends and policy changes that may impact the pharma industry and/or company's current and future pipeline, including but not limited to changes in commercial reimbursement changes, changes to government programs (i.e., Medicaid, Medicare, 340B), new payment models, innovative pricing strategies, and potential consolidations.
  • Working with the appropriate stakeholders, drive the development of an annual long-range scan (2-4 years) with quarterly or semi-annual updates to regularly communicate with the broader organization, especially with the Value & Access, Channel Management, National & Regional Account Teams.
  • Work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders such as Value & Access, Commercial, Global Market Access, Policy, Government Affairs, New Product Planning and HEOR to identify key intelligence topics and related analysis requirements.
  • Meet with customers [payers, PBMs, Health plans, disruptors, etc.] to build innovative partnerships.

About You

  • PharmD, MBA or related graduate degree.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Health Plan, PBM, employer benefits, actuarial and/or benefit consultants.
  • Recent direct experience working with large national payers or PBMs.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a combination of the following areas within specialty care: pricing, contracting, pharmacy benefit management, specialty pharmacy strategy & operations.
  • Strong business & financial acumen and ability to turn trends/insights into quantifiable impact to the business.
  • Skilled at conducting senior leadership engagements & presentations.
  • Thorough understanding of payer landscape (commercial and government) across specialty products [oncology, immunology, Neurology, Asthma biologics] and rare diseases.
  • Experience working in channel contracting including buy/bill, retail and specialty pharmacies.
  • Strong understanding of the complex and rapidly evolving factors influencing US market access, including reimbursement trends, payer concerns and healthcare policy.
  • Strong understanding of the US payer environment, payer market dynamics, payer marketing principles and how healthcare players make decisions across private & public channels.
  • Strong communication [to local & global leadership] and ability to drive influence across stakeholders to set direction, align work efforts, and ensure outstanding execution.
