Job Overview:
RWJ Hamilton is seeking a highly dedicated Director Patient Care for Medical Surgical Unit I. The Director utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to facilitate optimal patient care. The Director demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to our patient population.

Essential Functions:
Assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing, and managing the departments and staff to assure quality service on a 24 hour basis
• Prepares and implements written policies and procedures all phases of departmental operations.
• Periodically updates department Policy & Procedure Manuel.
• Responsible through managers and supervisors for the overall operation and of all assigned departments.
• Staff adequate and appropriate coverage for operations.
• Directs all quality review functions and operations in the Department. This includes the clinical management of patients, patient satisfaction and safety and effective and efficient utilization of hospital services.
• Establishes, implements and monitors annual goals and objectives which are consistent with the hospital's mission and objectives. All reports are thorough, accurate and submitted by assigned deadlines.
• Monitors activities of managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with established guidelines and policies.
• Facilitates strong lines of communication between managers and staff.
