Liberation Ventures (LV) is a field builder fueling America’s Black-led racial repair movement. LV supports the ecosystem of organizations working on truth, reconciliation, and reparations in order to build public will for a comprehensive federal financial and nonfinancial reparations program.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Position Overview

We hope to bring on a passionate person to build the partnerships and innovation team at Liberation Ventures. This team is responsible for building strong relationships with LV’s portfolio of movement partners, and supporting their work in a myriad of ways. This team is also charged with uncovering insights about the challenges and opportunities within the reparations movement through the lived experience of those partners, and synthesizing that learning to inform LV’s overarching grantmaking and organizational strategies.

This person will report to the Managing Director but will collaborate with the full Liberation Ventures team as well as other partner organizations in the ecosystem.

Build a program to provide movement partners in LV’s portfolio with tailored technical assistance. This may include providing support in-house or contracting externally. Support could include but is not limited to fundraising, communications, strategic planning, materials development, financial management, etc.

Synthesize insights from movement partners and feed them back into LV’s organizational and grantmaking strategies

Continually scour the field to identify new opportunities to develop partnerships with potential grantees, other funders, or other organizations.

Design and execute field-wide projects to develop knowledge and data assets with the field, including but not limited to public opinion polling, etc.

Design and develop impact evaluation tools, including a measurement framework, indicators, etc.

Develop mechanisms for organizational learning that help inform LV’s overall grantmaking and organizational strategy, including but not limited to field-wide feedback surveys, etc.

Build an equitable, high-performing organization. Support budgeting and annual goal-setting processes, standing up governance structures, and engaging advisors and donors.

Qualifications

Strong understanding of our field of work — racial, economic, and gender justice and their intersections, and the systems and structures that cause ongoing harm in these areas — and experience working in organizations in these fields.

Two + years of experience in management and/or strategy consulting (ideal but not required).

Exceptional project management skills; highly organized and able to manage multiple streams of work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Outstanding relationship builder, with people of all backgrounds and professional experiences; able to empathize deeply with movement partners to understand, prioritize, and develop mechanisms to meet their needs

Able to see and manage power and privilege dynamics in a group and create working environments where all people are equally valued, feel cared for, and contribute.

Exceptional stakeholder management skills; ability to convene large numbers of people with clear purpose and objectives, and facilitate long-term initiatives that achieve tangible results.

Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability and willingness to work in a hybrid workplace and travel regularly (once it is safe to do so after the pandemic).

Position Type

The Liberation Ventures Director of Partnerships & Innovation is a full-time (100% FTE) position. This position will start as a temporary position, with the potential to convert to full time.

Compensation

PolicyLink offers competitive salaries based on the experience and skills of employees. The starting salary range for the position is $90,000 - $110,000, dependent on experience.
