Job summary

Abacus Solutions Group, Detroit, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Manager to lead maintenance and asset management across a major transportation asset. You will manage budgets, coordinate third‑party contractors, and drive continuous improvement with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

You will report to senior leadership, prepare executive updates, and coordinate with asset owners and public agencies to ensure 24/7 readiness and optimal lifecycle planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years in operation and maintenance of freeway/highway infrastructure.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary maintenance programs.
• Experience overseeing third‑party contractors and service providers.
• Strong asset management, lifecycle planning, and budgeting skills.
• Experience with public agencies, transportation authorities, or DOTs.
• Commercial, contractual, and risk‑management capabilities.

Our client is a private infrastructure company responsible for the long-term operation, maintenance, asset management, and lifecycle delivery of a major transportation asset in Metro Detroit. The organization is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Manager to provide leadership across maintenance operations, asset management, contractor oversight, compliance, budgeting, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all maintenance and asset management activities across a complex transportation infrastructure asset.
• Manage routine, preventive, corrective, and lifecycle maintenance programs.
• Direct maintenance contractors, consultants, and support personnel.

• Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of freeway, highway, or comparable transportation infrastructure.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary maintenance programs and teams.
• Experience managing third‑party contractors and service providers.
• Strong understanding of asset management, lifecycle planning, maintenance budgeting, and infrastructure performance management.
• Experience working with public agencies, transportation authorities, DOTs, or comparable stakeholders.
• Strong commercial, contractual, and risk‑management skills.
• Preferred Experience
• Experience on long‑term infrastructure concession, P3, availability‑payment, or other performance‑based transportation infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing maintenance activities under a performance‑based contractual regime, including KPIs, performance deductions, abatements, performance points, or equivalent contractual mechanisms.
• Experience in maintenance planning, asset management, lifecycle forecasting, rehabilitation strategies, and long‑term capital renewal programs for transportation infrastructure.
• Experience presenting maintenance performance, risks, budgets, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership, boards of directors, lenders, or public‑sector clients.
• Experience supporting procurement and management of maintenance, rehabilitation, and lifecycle service contracts.
