Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced senior leader to oversee specialty pharmacy operations within a health system network. The role focuses on P&L ownership, cross-functional leadership, and driving growth initiatives while improving patient care and operational efficiency.

The candidate will manage hospital and clinic relationships, build strategic plans, and mentor a high-performing team across multiple sites, with emphasis on data-driven decision-making and KPI attainment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 7+ years leading large, diverse teams.
  • PharmD or licensed pharmacist preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Data-driven with experience in financial targets and KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide integrated support across providers, clinical staff, hospital administration, pharmacy, vendors, and the outpatient specialty pharmacy program continuum of care.
  • Ensure specialty pharmacy delivers exceptional patient care.
  • Identify growth opportunities and build cost-benefit analyses to determine viability.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations with hospital partners and overall financial performance within assigned health system partners.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and performance management of pharmacy patient liaisons across multiple specialties.
  • Lead site operations and oversee in-clinic pharmacy liaison teams.
  • Conduct opportunity analyses, pitch initiatives to health system executives, and develop resourcing plans.
  • Own P&L and meet financial, operational, patient outcome, and satisfaction targets.
  • Develop and execute account management plans for health system partners.
  • Work cross-functionally to optimize processes and drive operational improvements.
  • Manage relationships with clinic, pharmacy, and executive stakeholders up to Vice President level.
  • Coach and develop teams and build a ready-now talent pipeline.
  • Host onsite social events to build camaraderie and culture.
  • Provide performance updates to the executive team
  • Lead strategic and operating initiatives supporting specialty pharmacy program growth
  • Identify trends, resolve problems, and develop new processes to improve pharmacy integration with prescribing clinics
  • Advise hospital partner executive teams on specialty pharmacy program growth
  • Build analyses and materials for innovative growth initiatives
  • Take growth initiatives from inception to operational viability while ensuring measurable growth and profitability
  • Facilitate communication between pharmacy, pharmacy liaisons, Shields PSC, and hospital clinical areas
  • Collaborate with pharmacy teams on workflow, quality, and operational improvement initiatives
  • Manage and update relevant data using database applications
  • Maintain job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networks, and professional organizations

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or a minimum of 7+ years of relevant work experience and demonstrated success leading large, diverse teams
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS in Pharmacy and licensed Pharmacist, or comparable clinical credential (e.g., RN, MD) preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated interest and success leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Genuine interest in coaching, developing, and growing talented individuals into future leaders
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to work alongside the team
  • Analytically oriented; makes and defends decisions based on data
  • Interest in P&L ownership, large team leadership, financial targets, and operational KPIs
  • Strong attention to detail, technology proficiency, and strategic communication
  • Experience in process development, process mapping, process improvement, hospital, or pharmacy operations preferred
  • Experience presenting operating results to management, senior executives, or Board of Directors settings highly preferred
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, including financial modeling and data visualization
  • Ability to operate with limited direct oversight
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders
  • Solid computer skills required, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), internet, and web-based platforms
  • Data entry and computer skills will be evaluated during pre-employment assessment
