Job summary

BMO Financial Group seeks a Director of T&O Operational Risk Officer to establish and lead a new, unit-focused risk oversight capability across Capital Markets and Commercial Banking. You will drive end-to-end reviews, partner with senior leaders, and synthesize insights across risk domains to deliver a holistic risk view.

You will manage a distributed team, elevate executive risk reporting, and shape governance for risk-informed decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Operational Risk, Technology Risk, Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit, Risk Consulting, or related disciplines within a large financial institution.
• Professional certifications such as CRISC, FRM, PRM, CISA, CIA, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, and supporting banking operations.
• Experience conducting end-to-end risk assessments, operational risk reviews, thematic reviews, or enterprise-wide risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the business unit operational risk oversight model.
• Lead end-to-end Integrated Operational Risk Reviews across critical business units and processes.
• Assess process design, technology dependencies, control effectiveness, operational outcomes, and residual risk.
• Develop business unit risk profiles and assess cumulative risk exposure.
• Integrate insights across operational, technology, cyber, data, AI, fraud, physical security, and resilience risk domains.
• Identify key risk drivers, emerging risks, thematic concerns, and systemic issues.
• Deliver actionable risk insights and recommendations to management.
