Director of Weekday Children’s Ministries (WCM)

Requirements: Minimum BA/BS in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education, Educational experience in Childcare facility.

Position Description:

This is a full-time (12 months) position.

The Weekday Children’s Ministries are outreach ministries of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

The duties of the Director of the WCM include implementing programs such as the Weekday Kindergarten, the Afterschool Care Program, and the Summer Camp at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

The Director, as a HPUMC staff member, reports to the Senior Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee. The Director is responsible for the overall management and supervision of all three programs within the Weekday Children’s Ministries.

WCM Director Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of Kindergarten, Afterschool Care Program, and Summer Camp in accordance with state licensing and church policies, including administrative, operational, financial, and logistical functions.
  • Hire, engage, and develop a supportive team of teachers and staff.
  • Oversee the implementation of curriculum, including developmentally appropriate play and classroom environments.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, staff, licensing authorities, and the community.
  • Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor and staff to coordinate facility use and promote collaboration.
