What are we looking for?
We are looking to add a Director of Waiver Services to our team. As the Director of Waiver Services you will lead a team responsible for providing high quality services to individuals eligible for multiple waiver services including the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) Medicaid waiver program, and the Home Enabling Supports (OPWDD) waiver program.
Your Overall Essential Responsibilities Will Be The Following
- Assures adherence by all staff to SJCS mission, core values, guiding principles, business standards and administrative practices.
- In collaboration with the SJCS Leadership, develops and accounts for assigned programs, operations, and fiscal outcomes.
- Ensures superior quality through implementation of SJCS quality assurance protocols that meet or exceed national accrediting body standards.
- Responsible for all functions within parameters of SJCS policies and procedures as well as all applicable state/funding/contract and regulatory requirements.
- Develops, cultivates, and maintains key relationships needed to implement waiver operations that increase the mission impact of SJCS. Engages actively and openly with all relevant parties including individuals served, families and guardians, funders, regulatory agencies, providers, and state associations, SJCS Leadership, and SJCS staff.
- Develops and leads a team of professionals to deliver high quality services.
- Monitors and analyzes utilization data to ensure that service delivery and revenue targets are met.
- Works with the Director of SJCS-NY to analyze and identify new service opportunities resulting in continued growth and development of this service line.
- Works with Director of SJCS-NY and the SJCS Leadership Team to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Reviews service notes, supporting documentation, and billing for accuracy and timeliness.
- Works with Director of SJCS-NY and the finance team to accurately forecast and manage fiscal expenditures with an eye towards sustainability and increasing net margin.
- Collaborates with community members, individuals served, family members, community organizations, and key stakeholders to raise awareness of SJCS.
- Actively participate in routine budget monitoring meetings for assigned programs with the SJCS Leadership and key managers.
- Works with HR to ensure recruitment, hiring, supervision, training, and timely completion of performance evaluations for assigned staff.
- Provides training, mentoring, and coaching to staff directly, as appropriate.
- Provides after hours on-call support of assigned program operations as needed.
- Maintains a positive image for SJCS state subsidiary and the parent company.
- Advocates at state, organization, individual, staff, and systems change levels.
- Participates in professional development activities for staff and self relevant to position.
- Completes appropriate SHIFT certification for the provision of Enabling Technology services.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The hiring range for this position ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 and is dependent on location and experience.

Extra credit will be given if you have the following experience, education, and requirements:
- B.S. in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or other related degree (required); Masters preferred.
- Experience with Medicaid Waiver services delivery and billing.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience.
- Experience with the development and implementation of new projects.
All SJCS Employees Must
- Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required.
- Meet SJCS and the funding authority requirement of criminal background and record checks.
Physical And Environmental Conditions Include
- Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort except the normal risks or discomforts, requiring special safety precautions for operating a motor vehicle.
- Position is remote/hybrid with predominately NYS travel and occasional out of state travel as needed/requested.
- Applicants must live in or relocate to New York state with preference given to candidates residing or relocating to the counties of Onondaga, Madison, Herkimer, Oneida, Oswego, Lewis, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Broome, Steuben, Schuyler, Tioga, Delaware, Tompkins, Cortland, Chenango, Cayuga, Chemung, Allegany, and Otsego.
- Travel up to 25-40% with flexibility required.
