The Rape Crisis Center of Milford, Inc. is seeking a full-time Director of Victim Services to lead victim advocacy and support programs with a focus on trauma-informed, survivor-centered care across all services.

Responsibilities include supervising advocacy staff, coordinating crisis response and MDT meetings, developing policies, managing budgets and grant reporting, and partnering with law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools and community agencies to strengthen survivor support

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong leadership and training skills focused on trauma-informed, survivor-centered services.
  • Experience in sensitive, crisis-oriented, or human services environments.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and program administration, including tracking resources and contributing to grant and funding reports.

Job description

The Rape Crisis Center of Milford is a non-profit agency dedicated to ending sexual violence through victim assistance, prevention, and education. The organization operates a confidential 24/7 crisis hotline, connecting callers with certified counselors for immediate support. Services are provided at no cost to survivors and community members across Ansonia, Derby, Milford, Orange, Seymour, Shelton, and West Haven. The Center works collaboratively with local partners to ensure trauma-informed, survivor-centered care and to strengthen community responses to sexual violence. Staff members are part of a mission-driven team committed to equity, dignity, and empowerment for all survivors.

The Director of Victim Services is a full-time, responsible for overseeing all victim advocacy and support programs. The position manages day-to-day operations of victim services, but not limited to, supervision of advocacy staff, coordination of crisis response, coordinating and facilitating Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and activities. The Director will develop and update policies and procedures, ensure services are trauma-informed and culturally responsive, and monitor program quality and outcomes. Collaborating with community partners such as law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, and other agencies is imperative to enhance support networks for survivors. In addition the Director will also participate in training and education initiatives, contribute to budget planning and grant reporting related to victim services, and support staff wellness and professional development. The Director will work collaboratively with the Executive Director to fulfill the mission of the Center.

  • Master’s Degree in related field is preferred or equivalent professional experience in the sexual assault, victim services, advocacy, counseling, or human services field.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and support teams, with strong Team Leadership and Training skills focused on trauma-informed, survivor-centered services.
  • Experience in sensitive, crisis-oriented, or human services environments.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and program administration, including tracking resources and contributing to grant and funding reports.
  • Experience in victim advocacy, or related fields, preferably within sexual violence services.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community partners.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to ethical and legal standards for victim services.
  • Availability to respond to urgent issues as needed and support staff coverage for crisis
  • Require flexibility outside of traditional business hours, including participation in crisis hotline coverage, community events, meetings, and training activities.

Position: Full-Time, Exempt
