We are actively seeking a Director of Telehealth Innovation and Information Systems with the vision to help us bring much needed specialty sexual assault forensic exam expertise to emergency departments across the nation through live virtual support.

The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth (SAFE-T) System is a novel telehealth program which became incubated in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing in 2016 with funding from the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime.

Over the past eight years, our dedicated interdisciplinary team has built, tested, and implemented a robust telehealth infrastructure that has supported more than 400 live telehealth consultations. Additionally, we have developed our own mobile application, solving unique challenges impacting quality of live telehealth support in the forensic examination setting.

As Director of Telehealth Innovation and Information Systems, you'll lead the technology infrastructure behind a mission-driven program serving both survivors and nurses. This is a critical leadership position within SAFE-T System, responsible for the oversight of telehealth delivery across our expanding network of hospital partners.

This is a full-time, on-campus position located at the Penn State University Park Campus in State College, Pennsylvania.

Team Management & Stakeholder Communication

  • Lead, mentor, delegate and oversee the work of direct reports, driving operational improvements
  • Present technology initiatives to diverse stakeholders and secure support
  • Communicate effectively with hospital leadership, IT teams, and compliance officers
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors for technology development and implementation
  • Lead high-level discussions about SAFE-T technology and data security measures

Innovation & Problem Solving

  • Proactively bring technological solutions to achieve program goals
  • Follow industry threats, trends, and innovation breakthroughs
  • Implement effective solutions to improve system performance and user experience
  • Develop innovative telehealth and technological solutions that support forensic nursing

Travel: Occasional local, state, and national travel will be required to attend or present at conferences, meet with suppliers, meet with prospective hospitals, and launch of SAFE-T System telehealth partnership at new hospital sites. Travel outside of Pennsylvania is estimated at 2-5 times per year for 3-5 days at a time. Same-day travel or single overnight within Pennsylvania will occur as needed (3 or 4 times per year).

Extended and/or weekend hours: Work may fall outside of normal business hours when there are major program deliverables or deadlines due, technical issues that must be urgently addressed, or an event or training that we are hosting falls outside business hours. These occurrences are infrequent.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
