Position Overview

NIDC is seeking an experienced and passionate professional to design, implement, and evaluate programming serving middle and high school students. The DTS will supervise multiple existing middle and high school programs, and also help create new programs and initiatives for this age group. The DTS will work collaboratively across various teams to enrich young lives through creative and engaging programming focused on enrichment and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Management & Development:
    • Design, implement, and evaluate engaging afterschool programs that promote our four pillars of afterschool: literacy, social-emotional learning, civic engagement, and life skills
    • Participate in the grant writing process to secure additional resources.
    • Integrate innovative educational, recreational, and cultural activities to support diverse student interests.
  • Team Leadership & Staff Supervision:
    • Recruit, train, evaluate and supervise program staff, ensuring high-quality instruction and mentorship.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development to support staff’s ongoing growth, the delivery of excellent programming and to maintain an upbeat and effective team environment.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Along with the senior NIDC leadership develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize program impact.
    • Ensure on-site staff manage daily operations to maintain compliance with contractual regulations and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Oversee program representation in strategic communication platforms (website, newsletter, social media) including content writing.
    • Foster strong relationships with school administrators, parents, community organizations, and other local partners that can foster strong programming.
    • Serve as a liaison between the program staff and senior leadership, communicating successes and addressing issues promptly.
  • Data-Driven Improvements:
    • Develop assessment tools to evaluate program outcomes and implement improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.

  • Must have a good sense of humor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an educational or youth development setting, preferably working with middle and high school students.
  • Proven experience in program planning, staff supervision, and crisis management.
  • Current background clearance and certification in first aid/CPR are required (or willingness to obtain).

Additional Notes

  • Evenings and weekends are required. Regular travel to different program sites is required.
