Job summary

Paramount's WBZ-TV/CBS Boston is seeking a Director of Technology to lead the technical strategy and execution of our multi‑platform content center. This role reports to the President and GM and drives operational excellence across broadcast and streaming infrastructure.

You will build innovative workflows, ensure regulatory compliance and cybersecurity, mentor a high‑performing team, and partner with newsroom leadership to prioritize critical projects.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in broadcast engineering or multi‑platform media.
• Deep expertise in television transmission, studio systems, newsroom workflows, and streaming tech.
• Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
• Experience leading technical transformation initiatives.
• Excellent communication across departments and leadership.
• Knowledge of FCC regulations and industry best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, or related field (preferred).

WBZ‑TV/CBS Boston is seeking a dynamic and forward‑thinking Director of Technology to lead the technical strategy and execution of our multi‑platform content center. This high‑impact leadership role will ensure operational excellence, innovation, and future‑readiness of our broadcast and streaming infrastructure. The position reports directly to the President and General Manager, with a dotted‑line relationship to the Division Senior Vice President of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a forward‑looking technology strategy aligned with organizational goals
• Lead all engineering and technical operations for broadcast and digital streaming platforms
• Oversee technical infrastructure supporting news production, content distribution, and multi‑platform delivery
• Drive innovation across television and streaming workflows
• Ensure regulatory compliance, signal integrity, cybersecurity, and operational reliability
• Collaborate with station and division leadership on capital planning, vendor relationships, and technology budgets
• Recruit, mentor, and lead a high‑performing engineering specialist team
• Partner with Director of News Operations and Production to prioritize station projects

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in broadcast engineering and/or multi‑platform media environments
• Deep expertise in television transmission, studio systems, newsroom workflows, and streaming technologies
• Strong strategic planning and project management skills
• Experience leading technical transformation initiatives
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and executive leadership
• Knowledge of FCC regulations and industry best practices
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred)

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $150,000.00 – $175,000.00. The salary range applies to positions in New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on factors such as location, market demand, experience, training, and education. The position is bonus eligible and offers medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance, PTO, and other benefits as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
