Job summary

Applied Underwriters in Omaha, NE seeks a Director of Technical Accounting to lead complex accounting questions for our P&C operations and investment portfolio. You will research and apply appropriate standards, partnering with leaders to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will guide senior management on GAAP, statutory accounting, NAIC guidance, investment accounting, and reinsurance, addressing a range of sophisticated P&C issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 10+ years of accounting experience focusing on compliance, policy, and research.
• Insurance accounting experience in industry or public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting for insurers.
• Experience accounting for fixed income and other insurance investments.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and interpretation of accounting standards for P&C ops and investments.
• Provide guidance to senior management on GAAP, statutory, NAIC guidance, and reinsurance.
• Address complex P&C accounting matters across the insurance portfolio.

As our Director of Technical Accounting, you’ll be our expert on complex accounting questions. You will research, interpret, and apply the appropriate accounting standards affecting our property and casualty insurance operations and investment portfolio. Senior management will rely on you for guidance on GAAP, statutory accounting, NAIC guidance, investment accounting, reinsurance, and other complex P&C accounting matters.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of accounting experience with emphasis in compliance, policy, and research.
• Insurance accounting experience, either in industry or public accounting serving insurers.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting for insurance companies.
• Experience accounting for fixed income and other insurance investments.
