Job summary

City of Gainesville–GG_Sustainable Development seeks a Director of Sustainable Development to oversee planning, code enforcement, building permitting and real property. This role leads the Planning and Development Services Department and guides business start-up processes in Gainesville.

The position requires strong administrative leadership, budgeting, and collaboration with City Commissions and outside agencies to advance growth and development strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
• Master degree preferred and may substitute for the required experience on a year-to-year basis.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in planning, development or related areas with 3+ years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, coordinates and administers Planning and Development Services staff.
• Provides professional planning advice to the City Commission and developers.
• Manages the development review process across departments.
• Prepares annual budget for Planning and Development Services department.
