Director of Student Affairs

Help shape the student experience from enrollment through career success.

Midwest Technical Institute (MTI) and Delta Technical College (DTC) are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Director of Student Affairs to lead student success, retention, career readiness, and graduate employment strategies across our multi-campus organization.

This is an opportunity for a leader who wants to do more than maintain existing programs. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically, use data to drive decisions, modernize processes, and turn ideas into measurable results for our students.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Lead company-wide strategies focused on the complete student journey—from enrollment through graduation and career placement.
  • Develop data-driven approaches to improve student engagement, retention, persistence, completion, and graduate employment outcomes.
  • Provide strategic leadership for Career Services, career readiness, employer engagement, and graduate placement.
  • Use data, KPIs, dashboards, and leading indicators to identify trends, barriers, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build proactive strategies and early interventions to support students who may be at risk of withdrawing.
  • Strengthen employer and workforce partnerships to expand career opportunities for students and graduates.
  • Partner with campus and functional leaders to create consistent, scalable student-success practices across the organization.
  • Modernize systems and processes through technology, automation, and data while preserving meaningful human interaction with students.
  • Provide oversight of student achievement outcomes and support compliance with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Student Affairs and Career Services leaders and teams.
  • Drive strategic initiatives from concept through implementation, measurement, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a leader who can move comfortably between big-picture strategy and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate brings:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Student Affairs, Student Success, Career Services, higher education operations, workforce development, or a closely related area.
  • Experience leading teams and initiatives across multiple campuses, locations, markets, or business units.
  • Demonstrated success improving measurable student outcomes such as retention, completion, career readiness, or graduate employment.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using performance data to identify root causes and drive action.
  • Experience building, transforming, or scaling systems, processes, teams, or student-facing functions.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, change-management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with ACCSC or another accrediting body with student-achievement and employment-outcome requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SIS, CRM, business intelligence/reporting tools, student-success technologies, and automation.
Why This Role?

This isn’t a role focused on maintaining the status quo. You’ll have the opportunity to help build the future of Student Affairs across a growing organization—creating stronger systems, developing leaders, improving the student experience, and ultimately helping more students successfully complete their education and transition into meaningful careers.

Location: May be based at any of our six campuses in Illinois, Missouri, or Mississippi, with partial remote work.

Travel: Up to 30% to support campuses and organizational initiatives.
