The position includes time for clinical activities, leadership, operations, and academic pursuits.

Danbury Hospital is a tertiary center providing leading-edge, patient-centered heart care across the full spectrum of cardiovascular health. From prevention and early detection to advanced intervention, surgery, and rehabilitation, our state-of-the-art facilities house advanced diagnostic capabilities, including non-invasive imaging, echocardiography, CT, and MRI, and stress testing. Our interventional team performs complex coronary interventions, including a busy STEMI program. Our structural program offers the full spectrum of aortic and mitral valve interventions with plans to expand into TMVR and tricuspid interventions in the near future. Danbury Hospital is part of Northwell’s collaborative, system-wide structural heart team (6 total sites) that meets regularly to review outcomes and metrics, share complex cases, and jointly evaluate opportunities to access new devices and clinical trials.

Specific responsibilities include:
Clinical Leadership & Program Development
  • Establish clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices for structural heart interventions as well as drive innovation and adoption of new technologies and procedures
  • Lead multidisciplinary heart team meetings and case selection conferences
Quality & Outcomes
  • Monitor quality metrics and clinical outcomes, including oversight of data collection and submission to national registries
Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit and retain specialized structural heart team members and provide leadership and training opportunities for support staff
Strategic Planning & Growth
  • Develop strategic plans for program growth, expand referral networks, and collaborate with marketing on promotion and outreach
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with members of Northwell’s Cardiovascular Institute as well as other departments and hospital administration
Academic Focus
  • Promote and enhance all aspects of the academic mission, including training and education as well as innovation and research

Northwell Health’s Cardiovascular Institute brings together providers from across the system to work collaboratively to provide top care, to teach and train, to perform research, to engage the community, and to reach new heights in providing the highest quality care for all. The Institute’s Centers of Excellence (Arrhythmia, Atherosclerosis, Heart/Lung Failure, Prevention/Wellness, Pediatric/Adult Congenital, Valvular, Vascular, Women’s Heart Health) focus on the cardiovascular patient and care team to provide comprehensive, expert care across the network. Our clinical programs are comprehensive, and cover all possible areas within cardiovascular medicine, intervention, and surgery. Our ~400 cardiologists take care of patients across 100 office locations and 23 hospitals and we take a team-based approach to provide innovative heart care for what others call “untreatable.” Given Northwell’s vast geography, we have designated regional leads who are empowered to steward the region and work with other regional and system representatives to ensure consistent and streamlined strategies and oversight.

Northwell Health is the region’s largest health care provider and private employer, with 28 hospitals and 1,050 outpatient facilities. We care for over thirteen million people annually in the New York metro area and Connecticut. Our 104,000 employees – 22,000+ nurses and 13,000+ credentialed physicians, including members of Northwell Health Physician Partners – are working to change health care for the better. We’re making breakthroughs at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, training the next generation of medical professionals at the visionary Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies and in our vast graduate medical education program, and engaging our communities with innovative ways to take care of large populations.

Northwell Health offers a competitive salary and benefits package. In addition, an academic appointment with the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is commensurate with credentials and experience. Physicians will be employed as members of Northwell Physician Partners, the fifth largest medical group in the country.
