Job Overview

We’re looking for a passionate, plant-loving leader to manage our retail storefront and guide our team at Riza Plants in Napa, California. This role requires a strong balance of retail experience, creativity, and operational know-how. As Store Manager, you’ll take ownership of daily operations, lead a small but mighty team, and create an engaging experience for every guest who walks through our doors. You’ll ensure the shop runs smoothly, meets sales goals, and looks beautiful at all times.

You must be confident in decision-making, adaptable to shifting priorities, and enthusiastic about motivating and mentoring your team. A solid understanding of indoor plant care is required, along with a love for customer connection and community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily store operations and team execution
  • Build, train, and lead a team of plant-selling machines who consistently hit and exceed goals
  • Run hiring, onboarding, and structured training that empowers employees to grow and sell confidently
  • Teach and model sales strategies - including plant + pot pairings, add-ons, bundling, and upselling
  • Build accountability systems using Trello, checklists, and regular communication
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and beautifully merchandised shop
  • Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and restocking
  • Own the DoorDash platform and strategy - plant selection, prep, and merchandising
  • Set and track weekly/monthly sales goals and coach the team to meet them
  • Lead team check-ins, performance reviews, and staff development
  • Own the retail schedule - with flexibility to take weekends off as long as the weekend team is strong
  • Be the first point of contact for shift coverage, team dynamics, and on-the-ground decisions
  • Collaborate with Alyssa consistently and openly to keep vision and operations aligned
  • Co-create a weekly schedule for yourself that includes admin-focused days to focus on ordering, planning, team development, and long-term improvements
