Job summary

School Nutrition Association is seeking a Director of Engagement & State Relations to lead the state affiliate engagement portfolio and drive leadership development across state leaders. The role reports to the VP of Membership and Credentialing and focuses on strengthening alignment between state affiliates and the national organization.

The position leads education programs, onboarding, and succession planning, and oversees national leadership initiatives including the National Leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and professional work experience is required.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience managing programs, services, or member/affiliate engagement functions.
• Three to five years of experience supervising staff, setting priorities, managing performance, and supporting team members in delivering programs.
• Demonstrated experience advising or supporting volunteer leaders, boards, committees, affiliates, chapters, or similar stakeholder groups.
• Experience reviewing governance documents, bylaws, policies, or related materials, with the ability to identify issues requiring additional review, escalation, or interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Lead state affiliate engagement strategy, building strong relationships with state Presidents, Presidents-elect, SAEs, and other state leaders to strengthen alignment between state affiliates and the National Association.
• Oversee governance-related questions, developing tools and educational opportunities to support state leadership.
• Plan and implement the SAE conference and coordinate activities to support growth of state leaders.
• Oversee the national awards programs and State Award of Excellence, including promotion of winners.
• Develop grassroots membership campaigns and resources for state membership coordinators and member engagement.
• Oversee the content strategy for state affiliate services and newsletters.
