Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking a Director of Software to lead the software strategy for its quantum computing platform. Based in US or UK offices, you will guide engineers, researchers, and developers to build a high-performance software stack for hardware, developer tools, and laboratory software.

This leadership role reports across the US and UK, with travel to both sites as needed, and partners with hardware, theory, product, and commercial teams to align software with customer needs and milestones.

Qualifications

• Master's degree (minimum) or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Quantum Computing, Physics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management capacity, preferably in quantum computing, HPC, or advanced software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the roadmap for Quantinuum's software stack to align with long-term goals and hardware advancements.
• Oversee the architecture and construction of a scalable developer platform for quantum applications, and work with our business teams to deploy the platform to the ecosystem
• Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing team of software engineers, ensuring technical excellence, and performance management.
• Work with architectural design chiefs and other technical leaders on the implementation of quantum software, ensuring scalability, quality, and high performance.
• Partner closely with hardware, theory, product, and commercial teams to align software capabilities with hardware capabilities and customer needs.
• Direct the full software development lifecycle, from ideation to release, maintaining high standards for user experience and documentation.
• Stay at the forefront of the quantum computing industry and software engineering trends, applying this knowledge to maintain competitive advantage.
