BambooHR is seeking a Director of Software Engineering focused on Payroll Services to lead multiple engineering teams and shape the next generation of our HR software. You will guide strategy, drive execution, and mentor senior leaders across Product, Design, QA, and IT to deliver high-impact payroll solutions.

You will champion AI-driven engineering practices, collaborate with architects on complex technical challenges, and play a pivotal role in hiring and shaping a world-class team in Utah's

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll or financial operations experience.
• 15+ years in software development.
• 10+ years in SaaS and SMB environments.
• 5+ years in Director-level / technical leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML in product development.
• Proficiency with MySQL/MSSQL and database design.

Responsibilities

• Lead a division of the product's software engineering team focused on Payroll Services.
• Provide regular coaching and mentoring to leaders and teams.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and IT to deliver software solutions.
• Ensure accountability in sprint goals and quarterly OKRs.
• Champion AI engineering practices and integration of AI into products.
• Work with architects to address technical hurdles and prioritize solutions.
• Participate in hiring and team-building efforts in Engineering.
• Drive ongoing improvements to systems and processes.
• Advocate for BambooHR values and culture.
