Job summary

JPMorgan Chase seeks a Director of Infrastructure Software Engineering to lead a compute and infrastructure stack within Electronic Trading Services Platforms. You will set strategy, govern delivery, and mentor engineers across teams to drive reliable, low-latency solutions and scalable software.

You will partner with Lines of Business to align technical decisions with business goals, own the compute architecture, and coordinate vendors to deliver on high‑impact electronic trading initiatives.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• Understanding of IPv4 networking, including OSI model, unicast/broadcast/multicast, routing, and network segregation mechanisms.
• Extensive experience with Configuration Management, using Chef or Ansible.
• Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
• Practical cloud native experience.
• Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives.
• Work directly with Lines of Business to address needs and challenges within compute space in a low-latency trading env.
• Direct the strategies for server hardware platform, OS tuning and automation, and infrastructure lifecycle.
• Design Authority for the compute infrastructure application stack, including build/config management and log/metric aggregation.
• Interface with hardware and software vendors on product roadmaps and next-generation infrastructure.
• Makes decisions that influence resources, budget, and execution of processes and procedures.
• Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
• Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains.
• Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.

As a Director of Infrastructure Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Electronic Trading Services Platforms, you lead a technical area and promote impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments.. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

The Lead will work directly with the Electronic Trading Lines of Business to ensure the technical strategy aligns with and accomplishes business goals, to develop solutions to compute engineering challenges, and to provide guidance and mentorship to partner technical teams. They will be an expert advisor to peers, leadership, and stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

• Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Mentor SRE and partner teams on automation best practices, technical thought process, and modern infrastructure management
• Linux administration, performance tuning, and benchmarking for low-latency Electronic Trading, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Extensive experience with Configuration Management, preferably Chef or Ansible
• Performing various research/development/risk-analysis as it pertains to the aforementioned
• Understanding of standard cryptography (certs, key pairs, communication, etc.)
• Experience with database management systems, preferably PostgreSQL
