JPMorgan Chase & Co. seeks a Director of Infrastructure Software Engineering to lead a technical area within Electronic Trading Services Platforms. You will drive compute infrastructure strategy, build and automation, and governance across teams and departments.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in software engineering, cloud-native experience, and strong leadership, with a focus on risk management, cost of ownership, and high-performance environments.

As a Director of Infrastructure Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Electronic Trading Services Platforms, you lead a technical area and promote impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

• Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
• Work directly with Lines of Business to understand and address their needs and challenges within the compute space within a low-latency Electronic Trading environment
• Direct the strategies for server hardware platform, server/OS tuning and automation, and infrastructure application lifecycle
• Design Authority for the compute infrastructure application stack, including build and configuration management, and log/metric aggregation
• Interface with hardware and software vendors on product roadmaps and to establish the next generation of Electronic Trading Platform infrastructure
• Makes decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
• Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
• Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
• Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
• Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• Understanding of IPv4 networking, including OSI model, unicast/broadcast/multicast, routing, and network segregation mechanisms
• Extensive experience with Configuration Management, using Chef or Ansible
• Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
• Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
• Practical cloud native experience
• Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Mentor SRE and partner teams on automation best practices, technical thought process, and modern infrastructure management
• Linux administration, performance tuning, and benchmarking for low-latency Electronic Trading, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Extensive experience with Configuration Management, preferably Chef or Ansible
• Performing various research/development/risk-analysis as it pertains to the aforementioned
• Understanding of standard cryptography (certs, key pairs, communication, etc.)
• Experience with database management systems, preferably PostgreSQL
