Position Description

The Director of Development will lead highly technical engineering teams overseeing the development of the PAR Retail platform. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering, this role plays a key part in evolving a predictable, repeatable, measurable, and scalable engineering organization.

This individual will drive the execution of product engineering initiatives—on time, on budget, and with high quality—while fostering a culture of collaboration, simplicity, and product-focused development. They will also contribute to resource planning, mentor engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes and outcomes across the organization.

Position Location : United States, Remote

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in software development leadership, ideally within a SaaS environment
• Proven track record managing distributed teams (preferably across the U.S. and Eastern Europe)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale, highly available applications
• Familiarity with service-oriented platform architectures
• Demonstrated ability to simplify complex systems and processes
• Deep technical expertise and past hands-on development experience
• Experience collaborating with internal executives and external technical stakeholders

Additional Skills

• Experience operating Kubernetes deployments at scale
• Expert-level knowledge of AWS or other cloud providers
• Industry experience in retail services or fuel & convenience is a plus
• Local to PAR Retail HQ in Philadelphia, PA is a bonus

• Lead engineering teams building the PAR Retail platform
• Improve the scalability and efficiency of the engineering organization
• Oversee the successful delivery of product engineering initiatives
• Implement and improve planning and resource allocation processes
• Coach engineers toward personal and professional excellence
• Contribute to a culture of cross-functional collaboration
• Participate in code development and technical issue resolution when needed
• Support reliability and operational excellence in live systems
• Provide technical oversight for both applications and infrastructure teams
• Partner with Product on roadmap scoping and estimations
• Support operations and infrastructure to ensure uptime and performance
