Job summary

DocuSign is seeking a Director of Engineering for Search to architect and lead the discovery engine powering agreements. You will bridge distributed infrastructure with ML features to extract intelligence from contracts and expand the platform's competitive advantage.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, AI, you will mentor leaders, optimize indexing latency, and ensure scalable operations across cloud providers. This role requires strong leadership and deep expertise in search systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering leadership, managing large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Elasticsearch cluster tuning and scale.
• Proven record delivering search infrastructure with high ingestion/retrieval demands.
• Experience collaborating with ML teams to improve search relevance and ranking.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategic roadmap and execution for the search infrastructure, ensuring scalability and resilience.
• Lead and scale a geo-distributed engineering team and mentor future leaders.
• Drive indexing latency, search relevance, and efficiency across multiple cloud providers.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and ML teams to translate customer needs into robust search experiences.
