Job summary

Standish Management in Raleigh, NC seeks a Director to lead client engagements, supervise the fund accounting team, and be the main point of contact with clients and service providers. You will guide quarterly and annual financial statements, capital activity allocations, and regulatory reporting, while partnering with senior leadership on growth and strategy.

This role requires deep US GAAP knowledge for investment companies, a track record of leadership in private equity or fund

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required.
• 15+ years in public accounting or equivalent.
• US GAAP knowledge for investment companies.
• Leadership in private equity or fund administration.
• Advanced Excel with financial modeling.
• Ability to leverage automation tools.
• Strong client management and communication.
• CPA a plus.

Job description

Job Description:

The Director at Standish is responsible for managing and leading their client engagements. They supervisethe Senior Manager, Manager, Fund Controller, Associate and Investor Relations Associate in matters of fund accounting, capital account maintenance and financial statement preparation. They are the main point of contact with the client and service providers. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to align our services with the strategic needs of our clients and the overall growth objectives of Standish.

Essential Functions:

• Manage client relationships including onboarding new clients, review of fund documents and fund set up and renewals of existing client engagements.
• Manage and oversee the quarterly and annual financial statement process, as well as limited partner reports for clients, including but not limited to the review of all journal entries, capital account allocations, supporting schedules, calculations of management fees and carried interest.
• Analyze and review data for Capital Calls, Distributions and Allocations to investors.
• Review accounting records, financial statements and support schedules, including waterfall calculations.
• Review SBA compliance reporting, including SBA Form 468.
• Oversee the audit and tax preparation process working in conjunction with clients, engagement teams, valuation firms, and outside public accounting firms.
• Oversee client engagement teams to make sure client deliverables are met in a timely manner keeping in mind engagement efficiency and profitability.
• Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the SBIC fund accounting and operations functions.
• Mentor, coach, and develop the fund accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making at the senior leadership level, providing insights and recommendations based on your expertise in fund accounting and operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Finance/Accounting/Economics concentration preferred)
• 15+ years of public accounting experience or equivalent
• Working knowledge of US GAAP for investment companies
• Leadership experience in private equity, venture capital, private credit, or fund administration
• Strong understanding of partnership accounting, capital activity, waterfalls, allocations, and carried interest calculations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, financial modeling techniques, and data analysis tools
• Ability to leverage technology and automation tools to improve operational efficiency
• Ability to multitask and perform tasks under strict deadlines
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team
• Experience delegating, training and supervising staff
• Strong client management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and clients
• Proactive, organized, and solution-oriented, with a relentless focus on accuracy and attention to detail
• Familiarity with eFront or AltaReturn a plus
• Knowledge of SBIC accounting and SBA regulatory reporting a plus
• CPA a plus
