We are looking for a strategic and experienced Director of Sales Management and Commercial Operations to provide leadership and guidance for our sales operations functions. This leadership position will oversee and direct teams responsible for sales order processes, logistics, vendor management, inventory management, and commercial contracting for our BESS solutions. You will establish strategic direction, develop best practices, and provide expert counsel to ensure our sales support infrastructure delivers exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for sales support operations that align with company goals and market demands.
  • Provide executive oversight and direction to teams handling order processing, commercial contracting, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational matters affecting sales performance and customer satisfaction.

Order Processing and Management:

  • Direct the establishment of efficient order management systems and workflows.
  • Provide guidance on complex order issues and approve strategic process improvements.
  • Review key performance metrics and advise on optimization strategies.

Commercial Contracting:

  • Oversee the development of commercial contract frameworks specific to BESS installations, providing strategic guidance on terms and conditions.
  • Review high-value or strategically important commercial agreements before finalization.
  • Advise on risk mitigation strategies for complex contracts with enterprise customers, utilities, and energy storage project developers.
  • Provide leadership in establishing contract management protocols that align with regulatory requirements specific to energy storage systems.

Logistics and Supply Chain Strategy:

  • Direct the development of logistics frameworks and policies to optimize the supply chain.
  • Oversee logistics partnership strategies and approve major logistics provider agreements.
  • Provide strategic direction on inventory management approaches to balance cost efficiency with sales readiness.

Demand Planning and Forecasting:

  • Guide the development of demand forecasting methodologies and review forecast accuracy.
  • Advise on inventory strategy and supply chain risk management.
  • Direct cross-functional collaboration to ensure production planning aligns with sales projections.
  • Establish vendor management frameworks and approve key vendor selection criteria.
  • Provide strategic oversight of vendor relationship management and performance evaluation processes.
  • Review and approve major vendor agreements and strategic partnerships.

Systems and Technology:

  • Direct the selection and implementation of business systems to support sales operations.
  • Provide strategic guidance on technology integration to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Oversee system optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and data utilization.

Organizational Development:

  • Mentor and develop sales support leadership team members.
  • Establish performance standards and guide the implementation of best practices.
  • Lead organizational design initiatives to ensure optimal team structure and capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in sales operations, with significant advisory and managerial responsibilities.
  • Executive-level understanding of the battery manufacturing market, especially Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or battery storage.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic direction for commercial contracting in energy, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams across multiple functional areas.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align operational strategies with broader business objectives.
  • Experience guiding cross-functional teams and influencing decision-making at the executive level.
  • Deep knowledge of best practices in order management, logistics, supply chain, and vendor relations.
  • Strategic understanding of business systems and their application to sales support functions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field; MBA or legal background a plus.
