Job description

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

The build-out of AI infrastructure is the fastest-moving capital program in a generation. Hyperscalers, neocloud providers, chipmakers, colocation developers and sovereign AI programs are committing hundreds of billions of dollars to gigawatt-scale campuses, and the timelines have compressed from years to months. Owners are no longer buying a building - they are buying speed, certainty and a facility that can be operated intelligently from day one.

Jacobs sits at the center of that shift. We design, engineer and digitally deliver some of the largest AI data centers in the world, working alongside the technology partners defining the reference architectures for AI factories. Our Digital & Data (D&D) portfolio plays a key role in this buildout digital twins that provide simulation-ready models from design through operations; digital advisory that shapes technology strategy, operating models, data platforms and AI adoption across an owner's portfolio; and OT and IT cybersecurity that protects building management, power and cooling control systems across design, commissioning and steady-state operations.

The Director, Sales, Data Centers will lead growth and sales strategy for Jacobs' Digital & Data portfolio within the Data Centers market. Reporting to the VP Sales - Private Markets, this leader will develop and execute a market strategy that connects Jacobs' digital and technology capabilities to the needs of data center owners, developers, operators, hyperscalers and strategic technology partners - globally.

The Director is accountable on an annual basis for a defined pipeline generation target and a sales closure (bookings) target in the Data Centers market, and owns the full path from origination to signed contract client engagement, pursuit and capture strategy, compelling proposals, disciplined sales process, and close.

Critically, this leader will develop strategies and co-sell in close partnership with other business units within Jacobs, not just from within D&D. The sales director will orchestrate co-sell campaigns with Jacobs operating units (OUs), PA Consulting and key technology partners to put the whole of Jacobs in front of the client.

Success in this role requires a market-facing sales leader who is credible in the room on both the technical realities of modern data centers and the digital stack that runs them, who can translate capability into measurable client outcomes, build trusted executive relationships, and mobilize a matrixed organization around shared outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own an annual pipeline and sales closure target for Digital & Data in the Data Centers market, with personal accountability for bookings, pipeline coverage against target, win rate, forecast accuracy and pursuit progression - reported transparently and reviewed on a regular cadence with the VP Sales - Private Markets.
  • Develop and execute a Data Centers growth strategy that positions Jacobs' digital and technology portfolio against AI-driven market demand, client priorities, capacity and power constraints, and competitive dynamics across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.
  • Build, manage and convert a strong pipeline of strategic Data Centers opportunities, from early origination and demand shaping through qualification, capture and contract award.
  • Lead the end-to-end sales process, including account planning, opportunity qualification, capture strategy, proposal development, executive reviews, commercial structuring, negotiations and close planning.
  • Drive co-selling across Jacobs - partnering with operating units, PA Consulting, solution leaders, account teams and delivery organizations to package joint engineering and digital solutions, agree commercial and delivery models across business units, and pursue integrated scopes that neither group would win alone.
  • Create and articulate value propositions that connect digital twins, digital advisory, cybersecurity, industrial automation and data analytics to outcomes.
  • Shape technical win themes with engineering and digital delivery leaders on the issues driving owner decisions today - white space and gray space design, high-density and liquid-cooled deployments, electrical architecture and redundancy, power availability and grid interconnection, commissioning, and the digital thread from design into operations.
  • Build senior-level relationships with hyperscalers, developers, operators, investors, technology providers, OEMs and strategic partners to identify demand early and influence scope before an RFP is issued.
  • Maintain rigorous CRM, pipeline, proposal, forecasting and sales reporting disciplines, providing transparent updates and actionable market intelligence to the VP Sales - Private Markets and Private Markets leadership.
  • Represent Jacobs at relevant industry forums, partner ecosystems and technology events, strengthening our market presence, insight and relationships in the AI data center community.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Demonstrated market experience in Data Centers, with a strong understanding of the sector's clients, buying centers, ecosystem, growth drivers and commercial priorities - including how hyperscale, colocation and enterprise owners buy differently.
  • Working technical knowledge of data center design and operations, sufficient to hold a credible conversation with an owner's engineering team white space and gray space scope and how they interact; high-density rack deployments and liquid cooling approaches (direct-to-chip, rear-door heat exchangers, immersion) alongside traditional air cooling; electrical architectures including medium-voltage distribution, UPS and switchgear topologies and redundancy concepts; power availability, on-site generation and grid interconnection constraints; and operating metrics such as PUE and WUE.
  • Digital delivery background with a working understanding of the modern software stack - cloud and hybrid infrastructure, APIs and integration, data platforms and pipelines, IoT and edge, BIM and digital twin environments - and enough fluency to scope and sell it, not just describe it.
  • Practical familiarity with AI deployments, including where AI, machine learning and agentic or generative approaches are genuinely creating value in design, engineering, program controls and facility operations, and what it takes to deploy them (data readiness, integration, governance, change management).
  • Proven track record of carrying and delivering an annual sales number, developing strong qualified pipelines and securing contract awards on multi-million-dollar opportunities in digital, technology or technology-enabled services.
  • Experience leading the full sales and pursuit lifecycle, including opportunity strategy, pipeline management, capture planning, proposal development, presentations, negotiations and closing.
  • Ability to build and execute a market strategy for Data Centers using a broad digital and technology portfolio, while identifying where Jacobs can create differentiated value.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and collaboration skills, with demonstrated success in a matrixed organization and a track record of coordinating co-sell efforts across multiple operating units, geographies and disciplines.
  • Executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients, partners, senior leaders and cross-functional teams with credibility and clarity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established relationships across the Data Centers market, including hyperscalers, developers, operators, investors, engineering and construction partners, or technology providers.
  • Experience selling consulting, engineering, infrastructure, software, data, analytics, cybersecurity, automation or other technology-enabled solutions into complex enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to digital twin and simulation ecosystems used in AI-era facility design and operations (for example OpenUSD-based workflows, reality capture and as-built modeling, or physics-based simulation for cooling and power).
  • Working understanding of cybersecurity techniques relevant to critical facilities, including OT and IT convergence, network segmentation and zero-trust principles, secure-by-design engineering, and recognized frameworks and standards such as IEC 62443 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Experience selling with or through strategic technology partners and OEM ecosystems, including joint go-to-market and referral motions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional pursuit teams and influencing without direct authority across business lines, geographies and disciplines.
  • Experience managing strategic accounts and multi-stakeholder sales cycles involving complex commercial, technical and delivery considerations.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, certifications or bodies (for example ASHRAE, Uptime Institute tier standards, IEC 62443, CISSP or GICSP) is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, technology, marketing or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
